For the first time since 2019 Wiikwemkoong will be welcoming visitors to attend National Indigenous Peoples Day as we celebrate the vibrant culture and people of Odawa M’nis (Manitoulin Island).
We have partnered with the Wikwemikong Heritage Organization, Science North’s-Great Northern Ontario Road Show and Indigenous Tourism Ontario to bring you a day of education, cultural learning, food/art, powwow, live music and fireworks.
The Great Northern Ontario Roadshow Pavilion will feature a Marketplace tent with local vendors and science exhibits. The live stage will host a variety of science, cultural and treaty presentations, culinary and music entertainment.

Wikwemikong Heritage Organization Powwow with grand entry at 12pm with dance specials happening throughout the day.
Community Appreciation and Feast hosted by Chief and Council
Wiigwaas Jiimaan-(birch bark canoe) – Community Launch
Musical Entertainment with Elijah & the backburners and local performances
Fireworks hosted by Indigenous Tourism Ontario
Free family event- Covid protocols will be followed.
